India sends humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan consisting of medical supplies

India today dispatched humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan consisting of medical supplies. These medicines will be handed over to the representatives of the World Health Organisation in Kabul and will be administered at the Indira Gandhi Children’s Hospital, Kabul. The relief material was sent through the same flight which carried 104 stranded persons from Afghanistan to India yesterday.

The flight brought 10 Indians and 94 Afghans, including members of Afghan minority community. Two Swaroops of Guru Granth Sahib and some ancient Hindu manuscripts were also brought in the flight.

External Affairs Ministry said, under Operation Devi Shakti, a total of 669 people have now been evacuated from Afghanistan.

This comprises of 448 Indians and 206 Afghans, which includes members of the Afghan Hindu and Sikh minority community. 565 people including 438 Indians were evacuated from Afghanistan earlier in the month of August this year.
