In Telangana, three cases of Omicron detected at Hyderabad airport. Two persons including a woman tested positive for Omicron variant of COVID-19. Director State Public Health Department, Dr Srinivas Rao informed that both have arrived at the International airport at Hyderabad a few days ago from Kenya and Somalia.
He informed that the woman has been shifted to Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) in Hyderabad while the 23-year old person who arrived from Somalia is yet to be traced.
He further informed that in a third case, a 7-year old boy, who landed in the International Airport and has flown to West Bengal through a domestic flight also tested positive for Omicron variant. He further said two of the three cases of Omicron were from passengers coming in from countries not categorized as at risk.
Dr Srinivas further said the variant is seen to have a doubling time of 2.5 days and in some European countries even 1.5 days. He urged all people to wear masks and avoid mass gatherings.
