Bhiwandi Mayor cancels proposal for new abattoir

Bhiwandi, May 10 The Bhiwandi Nizampur City Municipal Corporation on Monday cancelled
a proposal to construct a new abattoir at an estimated cost of Rs 8.25 crore in the town, it was
stated.
Mayor Pratibha Vilas Patil made the announcement of the same in a video recorded message to
the media here.
The civic administration had prepared a proposal to construct a new modernized abattoir at
Idgha for the city and the proposal was placed in the general body meeting today.
Several groups, including the BJP, put up a stiff resistance to the proposal and made
representations to the Mayor against it.
Following the opposition and in view of the current pandemic situation, the Mayor cancelled it.
