Lt. Governor of Puducherry delivers inaugural address at 29th International Yoga Festival in Puducherry

Practicing yoga daily would help to prevent heart attacks and help the students score more in the examinations. Yoga strengthens the body and improves memory power. The synergy of the allopathic system and indigenous medicine system would yield more results. Prime Minister Narendra Modi after having considered the importance of Yoga in daily life, made efforts to celebrate International Yoga Day on the 21st of June every Year. Now Yoga is being taught throughout the world thus proving the rich heritage of India.

This was disclosed by Dr.Tamilisai Soundararajan, Lt. Governor of Puducherry while delivering the inaugural address at the 29th International Yoga Festival organised by the Tourism Department yesterday evening at Beach Road, Puducherry.

Chief Minister N. Rangasamy in his presidential address said that in the primary health centres and schools trained yoga teachers were teaching yoga to patients and students respectively. To maintain good health and a stable mind, the students should come forward to learn and practice yoga daily, he added.

PWD Minister K. Lakshminarayanan, has also participated along with Chief Secretary Rajeev Varma and Tourism Secretary D. Manikandan.

Later a yoga demonstration by 600 students was held on the beach road. This Yoga festival concludes on 7th January.
