AIR to broadcast voter awareness programme Matdata Junction in 23 languages from today

Election Commission of India’s year long voter awareness programme, Matdata Junction will be broadcasted from today, October 7 on All India Radio.

A total of 52 episodes of 15-minute duration each will be broadcast every Friday in 23 languages across the country. The programme will be aired between 7 to 9 PM on Vividh Bharati stations, FM Rainbow, FM Gold and the Primary channels of AIR. The theme of the first episode of the program is – Voter Registration.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar launched the Programme on Monday at AIR Delhi. Election Commissioner Anoop Chandra Pandey, CEO Prasar Bharati Mayank Kumar Agrawal and Director General AIR News Vasudha Gupta were also present during the launch programme.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Election Commissioner said that the programme will help in creating awareness among voters across the country. He added that each programme will be based on a particular theme of the electoral process.

Mr Kumar also announced Actor Pankaj Tripathi as the National Icon of the Election Commission. Earlier, he was the state icon of the ECI for Bihar.

The Matdata Junction will cover all aspects of the Voter ecosystem and all 52 themes are aimed at encouraging all eligible citizens, especially the young and first time voters to vote and make an informed decision during the elections. Quiz, experts interview, and songs produced by the SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) team of the ECI will be carried out in every episode.

The programme will also have a citizen’s corner where they can ask a question or give suggestions on any aspect of the voting. People can also listen to the programme on Twitter at @airnewsalerts, News On AIR App and YouTube channels of All India Radio.
