Maharashtra: 74 patients without single covid resistent dose largely infected by Omicron variant

The genetic analysis and determination of genetic formula for Covid-19 virus are undertaken regularly by Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Now the results of fourteenth round have been declared which show that out of a total of 230 affected, 74 patients who have not taken a single Covid-resistant vaccine dose have largely been infected by Omicron variant. Out of these, 19 had to be hospitalized, three had to receive ICU treatment and one died. His age was 43 and was already suffering from diabetes and heart disease.

According to the public health department, determination of genetic formula for Covid virus enables to distinguish between two or more species of a single virus. It further enables to define of the correct direction of treatment so that the patients can be treated in an effective way.

The analysis of 230 Covid variants shows that the samples include BA variants of different species. The number of most affected was 30 percent between the age group 29 to 40 while the lowest affected were 7 percent between age group 81 to 100 years.

The BMC additional commissioner Dr. Sanjeev Kumar has appealed to Mumbai citizens to wear masks, keep social distancing, clean hands with soap regularly, and avoid crowds to prevent Covid-19 infection.
