Maharashtra: 11 women Naxalites who surrendered set an example for others by becoming self-sufficient over violence and guns

The 11 women Naxalites hailing from Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra, who were once busy handling guns and killing innocent people, had surrendered to police years ago. Now they have found a way of becoming self-sufficient by making phenyl and earning their livelihood. Many serious offenses have been registered against these women Naxalites but they are now leading a normal life by abandoning violence completely. Police superintendent Ankit Goyal has shown them the right way. This is the inspiring story of 11 Naxalite women in Gadchiroli district which is infamous for the Naxalite movement.

AIR correspondent reports, At Navegaon near Gadchiroli, there is a locality of Naxalites who have abandoned violence and surrendered to police. The facilities like houses, electricity, water, and roads have been provided to them by Police, but these surrendered women Naxalites cannot find jobs since there are not many employment opportunities for them. Police superintendent Ankit Goyal found a way and decided to impart them training of making phenyl. These women were taken to Vardha for the training. They formed a group under the aegis of Navjivan Utpadak Sangha and have started the production of phenyl. Now they have got their first order of making 1100 litre phenyl and their journey to become self-sufficient has started. With this, these surrendered naxalite women have set an example for all those who believe only in violence and guns.
