Veteran film and stage actor Alan Arkin passed away at the age of 89. He is a recipient of Academy Award, BAFTA, Golden Globe as well as Tony Award. The cause of death is yet to be revealed.

Alan Arkin’s sons Adam, Matthew and Antony issued a joint statement to PEOPLE on behalf of the family. “Our father was a uniquely gifted force of nature as an artist and human being. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed as a loving husband, father, grandfather,” the statement was quoted by People magazine.
