In Kerala, three more spillway shutters of the Mullaperiyar dam were opened this evening. With this, six spillway shutters of the dam have been opened. Presently, 2,974 cusecs of water is being released from the reservoir. More shutters were opened to regulate the water level in the reservoir, which is at 138.95 feet this evening.
Tamil Nadu has already stated that the release will continue till the water level reaches 138 feet. Meanwhile, the IMD has issued an orange alert for the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Idukki tomorrow, indicating isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall. A yellow alert has been issued for five other districts.
