Tamil Nadu Govt clarifies that Kindergarten classes will not be wound up by state administration

The Tamil Nadu Government has clarified that the Kindergarten classes will not be wound up by the state administration.

Responding to a flurry of comments about the intended closure of the LKG and the UKG classes in Government-run schools, the state school education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi told reporters in Thanjavur yesterday, the kindergarten classes will be shifted from the schools to the Anganwadi centres.

The classes for the children under the age of five were introduced in 2381 schools. The minister said, the teachers specially recruited for the classes will be elevated to handle elementary schools.
