Punjab: BSF foils narcotics smuggling attempt in Ferozpur district, 2 arrested

In Punjab, the border districts are facing the havoc of floods these days and the anti social elements are trying to take advantage of this opportunity to find ways of narcotics smuggling. Border Security Force personnel with the help of Punjab Police foiled one such smuggling attempt of narcotics at border village Gatti Matar in Ferozpur district and arrested two smugglers entering India from Pakistan border.

The border districts of Gurdaspur, TarnTaran, Ferozepur and Fazilka in Punjab are facing floods furry these days but the smugglers are trying to smuggle narcotics. Despite many feet of flood water in the border districts, the Border Security Force personnel are not only guarding the border with promptness but are also keeping a close watch on preventing narcotics smuggling besides saving people from the flood water. The force personnel along with the Punjab Police foiled a similar major smuggling attempt at border village Gatti Matar on the banks of Sutlej in Ferozepur district last midnight and seized 26 packets containing over 29 kilogram of narcotics after an encounter. In the encounter one Pakistani smuggler was injured and admitted to the hospital while his another accomplice was arrested. This is a major haul of narcotics seized by the agencies in the recent past.
