Karnataka: Rain continues to batter Bengaluru resulting in flooding in many areas

In Karnataka, copious rainfall continues to batter Bengaluru resulting in flooding in many areas yesterday too. Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath has said that Bengaluru received second highest rainfall this year since 1971. Speaking to media persons yesterday, he said that from June 1st to September 5th the city received 709 cm rainfall which is the second highest since 1971.

On Sunday, the city received 131.6 mm rainfall. He said that incessant rain has affected Bommanahalli, Mahadevapura and East Zones of the city. Bellandur areas turned into rivers due to the heavy downpour. Halasuru, Jeevan Beema nagar, Shivajinagar, M G Road and Majestic were inundated. Meanwhile, the Met department forecast says that Bengaluru will continue to receive heavy rainfall till September 8th due to upper air cyclonic circulation above Kanyakumari.
