The Sensex and the Nifty today added marginally in the afternoon trade. Both stocks gained even as the cues from other Asian equity markets were negative. The Sensex was trading near 57,600 while the Nifty was trading near 17,200 points.
The BSE Sensex climbed 117 points, or 0.2 percent to trade at 57,608 and the NSE Nifty jumped 50 points, or 0.29 percent, to trade at 17,200 when reports last came in.
Yesterday, the key indices logged losses of more than two and half percent.
In the forex market, the rupee weakened 19 paise to trade at 74 rupees and 76 paise against the US dollar in afternoon deals.
