Indian High Commission in Colombo celebrates 50th anniversary of association between National Defence College of India and Sri Lankan Armed Forces

The Indian High Commission in Colombo celebrated the 50th anniversary of the association between the National Defence College of India and the Sri Lankan Armed Forces on Monday. The event marked the enduring cooperation and friendship between the forces of the two countries.

During the event, High Commissioner of India Gopal Baglay felicitated Admiral DB Goonesekara, the first NDC India alumnus in Sri Lanka. Mr. Baglay highlighted that India stands committed to Sri Lanka’s capacity-building endeavours in line with India’s ‘Neighbourhood First Policy’. He emphasized that training engagements between the Armed Forces have instilled a spirit of brotherhood and interoperability amongst the services and form the foundation of their strong bonds.

The event saw participation from Sri Lankan Armed Forces officers who have trained in India and highlighted the strong bonds formed through such engagements. The occasion emphasized the shared cultural ties and training opportunities, showcasing the collaborative foundation between the nations.
