In the India Open Badminton tournament, PV Sindhu, Aakarshi Kashyap in women’s singles and Lakshya Sen in men’s singles will play their semi final matches today. Top seed Sindhu, a former world champion, got the better of compatriot Ashmita Chaliha 21-7, 21-18 in the quarterfinal match so did Aakarshi who also defeated fellow Indian Malvika Bansod, 21-12, 21-15. Lakshya Sen rallied his way to a hard-fought 14-21, 21-9, 21-14 victory over HS Prannoy.
Sindhu will take on Thailand’s Supanida Katethong, Aakashi takes on Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand. Lakshya Sen will square off against Malaysia’s Ng Tze Yong. In women’s doubles, Haritha Manazhiyil and Ashna Roy will play the their semi-final match against Benyapa Aimsaard and Nuntakarn Aimsaard of Thailand.
