PM Narendra Modi to participate in the 125 th birth anniversary of Alluri Seetharama Raju, on July 4th

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bhimavaram town in West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh on July 4th to participate in the 125 th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Alluri Seetharama Raju. Prime Minister will unveil the statue of Seetharama Raju on the occasion.

Alluri Seetharama Raju was an Indian revolutionary who waged an armed campaign against British colonial rule in India. Born in Andhra Pradesh, he became involved in opposing the British in response to the 1882 Madras Forest Act, which effectively restricted the free movement of tribals in their forest habitats and prevented them from practicing their traditional form of agriculture known as Podu.
