Union Agriculture Minister reaches Gandhinagar to discuss probable candidates for Gujarat CM’s post

In Gujarat, the BJP central observers, including Union Agriculture Minister, Narendra Singh Tomar reached Gandhinagar this morning ahead of the legislative party meeting. Mr. Tomar met State BJP President C.R.Patil and other senior leaders and discussed the leadership issue in the state. The meeting held at the Gandhinagar residence of State BJP President C.R. Patil is now over. According to sources, Senior BJP leader and national general secretary B. L. Santhosh and Union Minister and party’s Gujarat in-charge Bhupendra Yadav were present in the meeting. All leaders are now reaching Kamalam- the state headquarters of BJP in Gandhinagar.

Sources said that Gujarat BJP’s legislative meeting is likely to be held at 3 pm today to decide the new leader. It is likely that the new leader will be elected from among party MLAs. It is also likely that the party may opt for one or two Deputy Chief Ministers. AIR Ahmedabad correspondent reports that Chief Minister Vijay Rupani resigned from the post yesterday paving the way for the change of guard in the election-bound state. Assembly elections in the state are scheduled to be held before December 2022.
