mppchaudharyThe Minister of State in the ministry of Finance Pankaj Chaudhary has informed that over 6.63 crore Income Tax Returns have been e-filed by taxpayers as on March 15 this year. In his written reply in Lok Sabha today, the minister said that the Centralised Processing Centre in Bengaluru has processed more than 5.17 crore duly verified valid returns for the year 2021-22.
The minister has also replied that more than 29 lakh notices were posted on the e-filing portal by the Income-tax department to taxpayers and around 15.62 lakh responses to these were received through the e-filing portal.
The minister informed the House through his written reply that the glitches observed in the e-filing portal have been rectified based on the feedback from taxpayers, tax professionals and representatives of ICAI. He noted that today the filing of Returns has steadily increased.
