PM Modi to inaugurate Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention in Indore today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally inaugurate the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention at Indore in Madhya Pradesh today, January 9.

In a message, Mr. Modi said he is looking forward to being in Indore to mark the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas.

Prime Minister said, this is a great opportunity to deepen the connection with the Indian diaspora, which has distinguished itself globally. The three-day Pravasi Bhartiya Divas convention began in Indore yesterday, January 8.

President of Guyana, Dr. Mohd. Irfan Ali will be the chief guest and the President of Suriname Chandrikaprasad Santokhi will be the special guest for the inaugural ceremony. The theme of the conference is “Pravasis: Reliable Partners in India’s Progress in the Age of Amrit”.

AIR correspondent reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will talk to various leaders. He will also release a special postage stamp “Go Safe, Go Trained”, which will highlight the importance of safe, legal, orderly and efficient migration.

Shri Modi will inaugurate the first digital exhibition focused on the theme “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav – Contribution of NRIs in Indian Freedom Struggle” to highlight the contribution of overseas freedom fighters to India’s independence.

The PBD conference is having 5 important sessions.

The second and third sessions will be held today. The theme of the second session is ‘Role of NRIs in boosting the Indian Healthcare Eco-system in the Age of Amrit Kaal: Vision @ 2047’. Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will preside over this session.

The theme of the third session will be ‘Taking advantage of India’s soft power – goodwill through crafts, cuisine, and creativity’. It will be presided over by Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi.

The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention started yesterday with the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas program in Indore. The first day was hosted by Anurag Thakur, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Sports, and Youth Affairs.

The conference will conclude tomorrow. President Droupadi Murmu will preside over the valedictory session and present the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman.
