Railways takes up construction of highest railway bridge at Chenab river in J&K’s Reasi district

The Railways has taken up construction of the highest railway bridge of the world at Chenab river in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir with the anticipated cost of 1486 crore rupees.
In a written reply to the Lok Sabha the Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw informed that the main arch span of the bridge is 359 meter high from Chenab river bed level and the length of the bridge is more than 1.3 kilometer.
He said the Chenab river rail bridge is a part of ongoing 262-kilometer length Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail line project with a cost of around 28,000 crore rupees.
