UP Assembly Elections: All necessary arrangements in place for counting of votes, EC deputed special officers in Meerut and Varanasi districts

In Uttar Pradesh, all necessary arrangements are in place for counting of votes today. Two special officers have been deputed by the Election Commission for counting in Meerut and Varanasi districts.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Delhi will supervise the counting arrangements in Meerut and Bihar’s CEO will oversee the counting process in Varanasi.

AIR correspondent reports that Elaborate and full proof arrangements have been made at all the counting centres in State. A total of 84 counting centres have been set up in State, out of which five counter centres are in Agra district, two centres each are in Amethi, Ambedkar Nagar, Deoriya, Meerut and Azamgarh districts while the rest of the districts have one counting centre. Chief electoral officer of the state Ajay Kumar Shukla said that All strong rooms, where polled EVMs are kept, were under three-layered security with inner cordon manned by Central Armed Forces. Concerned candidates have been watching the strong room arrangements through CCTV coverage 24×7.

Video and static cameras have been installed at all the counting centres, and media centres have also been set up. All required protocols will be followed keeping candidates of all political parties in loop.
