India is committed to increase investment flows to Sri Lanka to hasten its economic recovery: Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has said that India is committed to increase investment flows to Sri Lanka to hasten its economic recovery. In a tweet, Dr. Jaishankar said he and his Sri Lankan counterpart Ali Sabry discussed cooperation in infrastructure, connectivity, energy, industry and health between the two countries. Mr. Sabry thanked Dr. Jaishankar for the generous assistance of 3.9 billion dollars last year and for the assurance given to IMF to restructure the debt. Sri Lanka has been making efforts to unlock a bailout package from International Monetary Fund which is only possible after getting assurances from creditors to restructure the debt. Dr. Jaishankar is on a two-day visit to Sri Lanka.

Dr. Jaishankar will meet Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena in Colombo today.
