Severe cold wave conditions to continue in Uttar Pradesh for few more days says Met department

Severe cold wave conditions continued unabated in Uttar Pradesh with the mercury plummeting in many places. Dense fog also prevailed at most places in the state this morning, January 9.

AIR Correspondent reports, heavy fog and cold wave have affected normal life badly in the state. In some of the Western and Tarai districts Mercury plummeted to 3° Celsius.

Bad weather and low visibility affected rail and flight services. Due to dance fog road accidents are also taking place. While 4 people died in the Kasganj district the day before yesterday, two people died in Farrukhabad yesterday due to head-on collision between vehicles.

In many districts including the state capital Lucknow, the winter vacations have been extended till the 15th of January to save the kids from the wrath of the biting cold.

Due to heavy fog conditions, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also had to stay in Varanasi yesterday night since his chopper could not take off because of low visibility. The Metrological department has predicted that cold wave and foggy conditions will continue to prevail for a few more days in the state.
