Himachal Pradesh celebrates its statehood day

Himachal Pradesh is celebrating its 52nd full statehood day with fanfare and enthusiasm across the state today. On this day in the year 1971, Himachal was carved out as an 18th state and got full statehood.

President Ram Nath Kovind has greeted the people of Himachal Pradesh on their Statehood Day. Referring to the state as Devbhoomi, he said that it is a prominent centre of spirituality, culture and tourism. He expressed confidence that the diligent residents of Himachal Pradesh will take the state to the pinnacle of modern development while protecting their cultural heritage.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has greeted the people of  Himachal Pradesh on their statehood day. In a tweet, Mr. Naidu said that snow-capped mountains, bounteous rivers, misty pine forests and picturesque waterfalls make the state a kaleidoscope of nature. The Vice President extended his best wishes for the prosperity of Himachal Pradesh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted the people of Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of its statehood day. In a tweet, Mr Modi hoped that the state continues to grow and contribute to the country’s development.

AIR correspondent reports that the state-level function was held at Thodo Maidan in Solan today where Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur unfurled the national flag and took the salute from the march past presented by contingents police and Home guards.

Along with this, the programs going on in the entire state on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee year of statehood for the last one year are also going to culminate today.

Due to Corona restrictions, only 50 percent of people were invited to attend the function.

While addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the present state government has made many efforts for the development of its people in the last four years. He spoke about the development journey and milestones achieved by the state since its inception.
