Cyclonic Storm ‘SITRANG’: Deep Depression over Bangladesh further weakened into Depression

The Deep Depression over Bangladesh, a remnant of Cyclonic Storm ‘SITRANG’ has further weakened into a Depression. It lay centered over northeast Bangladesh and neighbourhood about 90 km north-northeast of Agartala, and 100 km south-southwest of Shillong.

India Meteorological Department today warned that it is very likely to continue to move north-northeastwards and weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area.

Light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely today over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura. Rough to very Rough Sea conditions are likely to prevail over the North Bay of Bengal and along and off Bangladesh coast till noon today. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the north Bay of Bengal, along and off Bangladesh coasts till noon.
