The first black actor to win an Oscar has died

Some people remain immortal even after death. Sometimes because of personality, sometimes because of work. Sydney Potier, a veteran actor who made history in cinema, was one such person, he will never be forgotten. Sidney Potier was the first black actor to win the Oscar for Best Actor. Veteran actor Sidney bid farewell to the world on Thursday.
Sidney Potier was 94 years old. The Bahamian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Potier’s death on Friday. The Prime Minister of the Bahamas, Latrae Rahming, visited his home in Los Angeles on Thursday to pay his respects to Potier. Sydney won an Oscar in 1964 for her performance in “Lilies of the Field”. He was the first black person to receive this award.
Sydney transformed America through his work in the 1950s and 1960s. At a time when racism was on the rise in the country, Sydney’s actions challenged issues such as the civil rights movement and separatists. Some of Sydney Potier’s most famous films include ‘Lilies of the Field’, ‘The Defiant Once’, ‘A Patch of Blue’ and ‘A Resin in the Sun’. The theater owners named Sydney the No. 1 star of the year in 1967. This was the first performance of a black actor.
