In Cricket, Punjab Kings beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore by five wickets in the IPL 2022 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai last night. Chasing a victory target of 206 runs, Punjab Kings achieved the target in 19 overs. They made 208 runs for the loss of five wickets.
Earlier, after being invited to bat first, brilliant knocks by skipper Faf du Plessis, 88 off 57 balls, Virat Kohli, 41 not out off 29 balls, and Dinesh Karthik, 32 not out off 14 balls, powered the Royal Challengers Bangalore to 205 for two wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
In reply, Punjab Kings top three batters Mayank Agarwal scored 32, Shikhar Dhawan scored 43 and Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 43 and gave Punjab a solid base to chase down the big target. Odean Smith, who scored an unbeaten 25 in 8 balls, in the lower order, was named the Player of the Match.
For the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mohammed Siraj took two wickets while Akash Deep, Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva, and Harshal Patel claimed a wicket each.
In another IPL match, Delhi Capitals beat Mumbai Indians by 4 Wickets at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Asked to bat first, Mumbai set a victory target of 178 runs but Delhi chased down the target comfortably with 10 balls remaining. Delhi Capitals Spinner, Kuldeep Yadav, was declared the Player of the Match. Mumbai Indians had scored 177 runs for the loss of five wickets in their stipulated 20 overs
Today, Gujarat Titans will be locking horns with the Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai at 7:30 PM.
