Rain fury continues in several parts of the country; IMD warns of extremely heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand today and Northeast India till 13th July

In Uttarakhand, 9 people died in rain-related incidents during the last 24 hours. Four people were killed when debris fell on three vehicles from a hill near Gangnani on the Gangotri National Highway in Uttarkashi district last night. While three people died when a vehicle they were traveling met with an accident at Koti Road in Kalsi today.

On the other hand, heavy rains lashed the capital Dehradun, and Haridwar districts, causing water-logging in many places. As a result, people get stranded in many places and were shifted to safer places by NDRF, SDRF, and police. Reports of heavy rains have also been received from various parts of the state. In view of heavy rains, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami appeals to tourists and pilgrims to travel only after having information about weather conditions. Meanwhile, the State Met Department has issued a warning of heavy rains at isolated places in all the districts of the state during the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, in Haryana, the incessant rains for the last two days led to many rivers flowing in spate including Yamuna, Indri, Markanda, Sarswati, and Ghaggar causing overflow and water logging at nearby villages and urban areas. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have been deployed to handle the situation in the State. Meanwhile, Haryana Government has appointed seven senior officers as Administrative Secretaries in flood-affected districts to monitor the situation and carry out relief work. The State Government has made adequate arrangements for disaster management in the wake of heavy rains in the state and people are evacuated to safer places and provided with shelter and food.

Due to water logging at Ambala, National Highway 44 and section 152 D have been temporarily closed.

The Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts light to moderate rains over the northwestern region in the next two days over north Haryana and Chandigarh.
