President Kovind to celebrate Dussehra with soldiers in Ladakh’s Drass area

President Ram Nath Kovind is set to embark on a two-day (October 14 and 15, 2021) official visit to the Union Territories of Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir on Thursday.

“The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind will visit Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir on October 14 and 15, 2021,” the official communique reads.

On the first day (October 14) of his visit to Leh, President Kovind will perform Sindhu Darshan Puja at Sindhu Ghat in Leh. The Sindhu Darshan Festival is celebrated every year in the Union Territory of Ladakh on the full moon day along the bank of river Sindhu. AIR correspondent reports that upon his arrival, the President will receive Guard of Honour at the airport in Leh.

Later in the evening, President Ram Nath Kovind will interact with the Army troops deployed at Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir.

During his two-day-long visit, President Kovind will celebrate Dussehra (i.e. on Day 2 of his visit) with the Indian Army soldiers deployed in Ladakh’s Drass area.

The President will kick start his day two (October 15) of the visit by laying a wreath at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass- located six kilometers ahead of Drass Town on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway. President Kovind will also interact with officers and jawans there.

“On October 15, 2021, the President will pay tributes at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass and interact with officers and jawans,” the official communique said.
