The certificates were handed today by Director of Higher Education, Government of Nagaland, Dr A Nshoga, during the 37th Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Convocation programme for Kohima Regional Centre at Kohima.
During his address, Dr. Nshoga stated that the convocation programme created a sense of responsibility and self-confidence of the learners to begin a journey of a thousand miles with one step. He commended the learners for achieving milestones through their hard work, dedication and consistent efforts.
The Director urged the graduates to make good use of the qualifications they earned from the centre to help others and improve themselves while also serving the nation for the larger interest of the people.
He also congratulated the IGNOU for making the quality of higher education accessible and affordable to all sections of people through open and distance learning programmes.
Dr. Nshoga added that IGNOU is doing a remarkable task by extending higher education learning towards marginalized and socio-economically disadvantaged groups (SEDG), differently abled persons (DAP) and even extended to jail inmates across the country.
He said the university has been making a significant contribution to higher education sectors in teaching, research, training, community development, extension activities and professional development.
Pointing out that the era of technology transition is happening at a very fast pace, and has been dominating everyday lives, Dr. Nshoga exhorted the graduates to assimilate the latest technological development in order to strive to make meaningful contributions to society and for national development.
