HM Amit Shah inaugurates dairy projects worth Rs 415 crore at Gandhinagar in Gujarat

Union Home and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah inaugurated dairy projects worth 415 crore rupees at AmulFed Dairy at Gandhinagar in Gujarat last evening. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Shah urged the Amul to take an initiative on creating marketing infrastructure for organic agri products for supporting the wealth creation for farmers.

He said that the fast adoption of organic products also needs more investment. He urged Amul management to develop infrastructure for testing, distribution and marketing for organic farm products. He said that the Amul dairy has a farmer connection and network at the village and grassroot level and Amul can do it very well.

Mr. Shah said that the center will help in any plan in this regard. He said that Amul can expand its purview and rope in newer areas to replicate the success of cooperatives into other areas. Mr. Shah inaugurated AmulFed Dairy’s new milk powder factory, poly film manufacturing plant, new robotic storage facility at the total cost of 415 crore rupees in Gandhinagar.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel termed it a big driver for women empowerment as over 11 lakh women are engaged in the dairy cooperative in the State.

Apart from Gujarat, Amul Federation is also sourcing milk from 13 other States. It has 87 dairy manufacturing plants with a total milk handling capacity of 390 LLPD- lakh litres per day.
