Busan University of Foreign Studies establishes India Centre for promotion of India-focused activities in the University

Busan University of Foreign Studies (BUFS) established an India Centre for promotion of India focused activities in the University. The Centre was inaugurated on Monday. According to a note from the Indian Embassy in Seoul, the Centre will act as a nodal point for India-related events in Busan and serve as a ready resource for students interested in India and to expand academic and cultural cooperation with the University. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Prof. Hong-Koo Kim, President of Busan University of Foreign Studies, India’s Ambassador to South Korea, Sripriya Rangnathan, and Amb. Enna Park, Ambassador for International Relations, Busan City Government along with local govt. officials and business leaders.

On this occasion, MoU to promote cooperation in the field of education & cultural exchange was also signed between Busan University of Foreign Studies and Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), Embassy of India in Seoul. The Centre will be headed by Prof. Sun-cheol Lee, Professor of Indian Business, Department of Indian Studies, BUFS as the Honorary Director and supported by the other faculty and staff members of the Dept. of Indian Studies at BUFS. The Centre has also appointed a team of 10 volunteers who will be helping in organizing the activities from time-to-time. The possible future activities and programmes of the Centre could include performances, workshops, lecdems, exhibitions etc. The Centre hosted at BUFS will run on self-finance mode while the content and resource persons for classes and workshops will be supported by the SVCC in Seoul.
