United Nations Security Council set to meet amid diplomatic push by US President Joe Biden to end conflict

Joe Biden, the US president, spoke to both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday in a new diplomatic push to end the conflict between Israel and militant group Hamas.

At least 11 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire in the West Bank on Friday, amid mounting anger over Israel’s actions in East Jerusalem and deadly air strikes on the Gaza Strip. This anger manifested in a raft of protests held across the globe on Saturday, with several major European cities including London convulsed by demonstrators. Crowds also attempted to scale the border wall from Lebanon, as protesters returned to the frontier for the second day in a row.
