The bank mistakenly sent Rs 1,300 crore to the customer’s account

London: What would you do if a bank suddenly sent millions, crores of rupees into your account? Doesn’t that sound very interesting? Something similar happened in Britain. In fact, the UK’s Santander Bank mistakenly sent money to 75,000 people from 2,000 bank accounts. A total of दश 130 million, or about Rs 1,300 crore, has been sent. Now the bank is asking for the money back; But people are not ready to return the money. The scuffle took place on December 25 at Santander Bank.
Significantly, Santander’s money went into the accounts of customers of rival banks such as Barclays HSBC NatWest, Co-operative Bank and Virgin Money. According to the Daily Mail, Santander Bank also fears that the money will not be returned to the bank. However, there are two ways to get your money back. First, the bank will force customers to return the money. The other option is to go to that customer and recover the amount. A statement has also been received from the bank stating that all this has happened due to technical glitches.
Under UK law, banks can recover money deposited in a customer’s account by mistake. If customers do not return the money, they could face up to 10 years in prison. The bank has around 14 million customers and 616 branches in the UK. Santander UK is a subsidiary of Global Bank Banco Santander. Earlier, Citibank in the US had also mistakenly sent $ 900 million to borrowers of the cosmetic company Revlon.
