PM Modi lauds Rupinder Pal Singh for his contribution to Indian hockey

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded hockey player Rupinder Pal Singh for his contribution to Indian hockey. In a letter to him, Mr Modi said he read a post of Mr Singh, where he has annouced his retirement from Indian hockey team.
Prime minister in his letter highlighted Singh’s stellar role in the Tokyo Olympics. Mr Modi said the Bronze medal in Tokyo marks a watershed moment in Indian hockey. Prime minister also expressed hope that Rupinder should be able to visit various schools by August 2023 and interact with youngsters on ways to end malnutrition as well as popularise sports.
Mr Singh in a tweet said he is overwhelmed to receive the letter from the Prime minister. Mr Singh said Prime Minister’s constant support to athletes has motivated to do best and pledged to continue his contribution to Indian sports.
Rupinder Pal Singh played as a fullback and is known for his abilities as one of the best drag flickers in the world .
