War of letter erupts between Maharashtra CM & Governor over incidents of atrocities on women

A war of letter has erupted between Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari after the later expressed his anger over incidents of atrocities on women in the state.

In his letter, the Governor had advised the Chief Minister to call a special assembly session for two days to discuss the matter.

AIR correspondent reports, days after Maharashtra Governor BS Koshyari’s letter calling for a special session of the state assembly following the rape and murder of a woman in Mumbai’s Sakinaka,Maharashtra Chief Minster Uddhav Thackeray wrote stern reply to him.

The CM in his letter has wrote saying Mr Koshyari should request the Centre to call a session of parliament to discuss issues concerning the safety of women and growing attacks on them in BJP-ruled states including Uttarakhand, the home state of Mr Koshyari.

CM Thackeray also stated that instructions for calling special session of state assembly by the governor could stoke a new controversy and are damaging to the democratic parliamentary procedures.
