Dr. Subhas Sarkar announces ARIIA, 2021 virtually, says ranking will build ecosystems to encourage high-quality research and entrepreneurship in campuses

Atal Rankings of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA), 2021 was virtually announced by Minister of State for Education Dr. Subhas Sarkar yesterday. Indian Institute of Technology-Madras got the first rank under the Central University and Institute of National Importance category.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sarkar said, ARIIA ranking will inspire Indian institutions to reorient their mindset and build ecosystems to encourage high-quality research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in their campuses. Giving emphasis on promoting innovation to achieve a five-trillion dollar economy by 2025, Dr. Sarkar said, more than quantity, the institute should focus on the quality of innovations and research. He said, this will help in achieving the targets set for making the country self-reliant.

Chairman of All India Council for Technical Education, Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe said, indigenous version of innovation and entrepreneurship ranking initiative designed through ARIIA, will not only help Higher Educational Institutions to demonstrate their efforts but also orient them in setting goals at the institute level.
