Winter Session: Rajya Sabha adjourned till noon amid ruckus over suspension of 12 MPs

The Rajya Sabha has been adjourned till 12 Noon following the opposition uproar over the suspension of 12 members from the House. When the House met for the day, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said for the last three days there has been no work transacted in the House. Mr. Naidu said that it was not the first time that the members have been suspended from the House for their unruly conduct.

He said, on earlier occasions from 1962 to 2010, a total eleven times, Members of this House have also been suspended for lowering the image of the House. Mr. Naidu said that the reason for the latest suspension of the 12 members from the entire Winter Session is in public domain and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi also listed out the reasons for their suspension. While Chairman was speaking, opposition members demanded that Leader of Opposition be allowed to speak. As the Chair did not allow the LoP to speak, the opposition members trooped into the well of the House shouting slogans. In the din, Chairman adjourned the House till 12 noon.
