I&B Minister Anurag Singh Thakur stresses need to adopt five visionary Mantras for government communication

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur has stressed upon the Mantra for effective communication to guide government communication for India at 2047. Addressing the opening ceremony of the 3rd Annual Indian Information Service Officers Conference in Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi today, the Minister gave the Mantra of effective communication in the form of five Cs.

These are – Citizen Centric and Compassionate, Co-creation with target audience, Collaboration, Contemplation and Continuous capacity enhancements. He said that these would be very important for future communication campaign.

He added that coordination with the State Governments will help to reach the benefit of various schemes of the Central Government to people in remote and far-flung areas of the country.

Lauding the role of the IIS officers in disseminating relevant and accessible information to the poor and the needy, Mr Thakur encouraged the participants to keep learning and upskill themselves continuously.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary, Information and Broadcasting Apurva Chandra said, during the COVID-19 pandemic, communication strategy was successful in instilling belief in the government.

He said, more and more communication is being transmitted through social media with the spread of mobile technology. He said, beneficiary sound bites of the government schemes should be shared in social media.

The IIS conference is a platform for government communicators to discuss, deliberate and decide a way forward to improve effective communication in the future.

Principal Director General of Press Information Bureau Jaideep Bhatnagar, Principal Director General (News) of All India Radio N. Venudhar Reddy, Principal Director General of Central Bureau of Communication Satyendra Prakash, Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati and Director General (Doordarshan) Mayank Agarwal, senior IIS officers and other officials from various media wings of the Ministry were present on the occasion.
