Punjab disrespecting graves Cases: Minorities Commission asks state govt to send report before Jan 10

National Commission of Minorities has issued a notice to Punjab Waqf Board and Chief Secretary of Punjab over alleged mining and digging of the old graveyard land and disrespecting the graves in Rasulpur Rangata village of Dina Nagar in Gurdaspur.

The Joint Secretary of the National Commission of Minorities A Dhanalakshmi has asked to send a detail report in this matter before 10th of next month.

The Chairman of National Commission for Minorities Iqbal Singh Lalpura has taken suo – moto cognizance of the news circulating on social media regarding alleged mining and digging of the old Qabristan land which existed even prior to 1947.

It said, this matter has also come to the notice of the Shahi Imam of Punjab, Maulana Mohammad Usman Rahmani, Ludhyanwi who visited the site and expressed his concern regarding illegal mining and digging of old Qabristan and disrespect to the dead bodies.

It is alleged that no action has been taken by the local Police nor by the Waqf Board against those who have carried out this crime and hurt the religious sentiments of the persons belonging to the minority community.
