Incessant rain and floods badly affect Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh is the most badly affected state due to incessant rain and floods. The Paddy crop damage is very high in Rayalaseema District and South Coastal Andhra. National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Adviser Kunal Satyarthi has lauded the efforts of the officials of the State Government and the dynamic, dedicated and young team of officials have worked exceptionally well with good efforts. Mr Satyarthi said that Y. S. R. Kadapa District has faced huge loss and added that livestock have died, roads, buildings, and irrigation projects have been damaged. He said that it is not a classical flood situation and the system is not ready to receive so much water and there are no adequate reservoirs and dams to regulate the water. He said that the extent of damage is large at the location of breach of Annamayya Project, some parts of Chittoor and Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore Districts. Infrastructure and Agriculture loss is more in YSR district and floods damaged Bengal gram crop and water schemes badly.
