Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has said that government’s multi-dimensional approach in agricultural research in the last eight years has resulted in multi-fold increase in farmers’ income. He said, Indian Council of Agricultural Research has been instrumental in doubling of farmers’ income.
He was speaking at a function to celebrate the 94th Foundation Day of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in New Delhi today.
Mr Tomar said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is tirelessly working to bring social and economical changes into the lives of farmers and poor living in the villages.
During the programme, Mr Tomar gave away 92 Excellence Awards in five categories to Agricultural Institutions, Centres of Agriculture Science, Agriculture Scientists and Farmers for their outstanding contribution in the field of Agricultural Science and Research.
Minister of State for Agriculture Kailash Choudhary and Minister for Fisheries Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala were also present on the occasion.
