Biden to speak at UN General Assembly

WASHINGTON, September 14. US President Joe Biden will speak at the UN General Assembly next week, the White House press service reported on Monday.

President will travel to New York on Tuesday, September 21, to deliver a speech at the United Nations General Assembly, the White House said, adding that more details would be provided later.

As the Politico newspaper reported last week, the Biden administration intends to propose holding an international summit on fighting the coronavirus pandemic and the issues of vaccination in September. It is expected that the summit will be held within the framework of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly. The US plans to discuss efforts to improve coordination in tackling the coronavirus globally on a whole number of areas with other countries. Washington intends to focus on the issues of expanding supplies of anti-coronavirus jabs to 19 developing countries, ways of improving their production, the possibilities of establishing an international cooperation in the field of research related to the disease at the meeting, Politico said. The summit is scheduled for September 22, according to the Washington Post.

Biden said on September 9 that he planned to outline new measures on providing help to other countries in tackling the pandemic soon.
