The BJP has released its list of 62 candidates for the upcoming elections to be held for Himachal Assembly on November 12.
BJP Central Election Committee finalized the names late last night. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur will contest from the Seraj Assembly constituency and file his nomination papers today.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Party president J P Nadda were present at the meeting. Eleven sitting BJP MLAs have been dropped. There are 11 Scheduled Castes, 8 Scheduled Tribes candidates, and five women candidates on the list.
Earlier, Congress also declared the names of its 46 candidates out of 68 late last evening, while the remaining 22 candidates will be decided today. Our Correspondent reports, the last date for filing nominations is October 25.
