In Kerala, an impressive parade by cadets marked the Passing Out Ceremony held at the Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala in Kannur district this morning. In all, 231 cadets including 28 women participated in the spectacular event.
Defence Minister of Maldives Mariya Ahmed Didi reviewed the parade and distributed medals and trophies.
Addressing cadets, the Minister said, India-Maldives partnership is based on equality, mutual trust, and a deep desire to ensure the safety and security of the two countries as well as the Indian Ocean region. India continues to be a key developmental partner of Maldives, besides its most long-standing and dependable security partner. She observed that at times of acute national need, India has unfailingly responded to alleviate the problems faced by her country.
Flag Officer Commanding in Chief of the Southern Naval Command Vice Admiral A. K. Chawla and Commandant of the Academy Vice Admiral M. A. Hampiholi were among those present.
Family members of the cadets were also present in large numbers.
