In Manipur, counting of votes for 60-Assembly seats has begun in 12 counting centres under tight security. The state went to polls in two phases on 28th of February and 5th of March. The results will decide the political fate of 265 candidates including 30 Independent.
AIR correspondent reports that Three-tier security arrangement has been made in and around the counting halls and counting centres. In some districts, more than two counting halls as been set up to expedite the counting process. Forty-one General Observers appointed by the Election Commission of India are monitoring the counting process. Meanwhile, leaders of political parties and supporters along with candidates have started gathering at party offices. Some are also seen nearby counting halls waiting for the result of counting eagerly. BJP is claiming that party will get more than forty seats and the party is already prepared for the warm reception of its winning candidate at party office. Congress also claims that the party will form a government this time. However, the people’s mandate will start opening one by one a few hours later.
