President Ram Nath Kovind today laid the foundation stone of the New Raj Bhavan building in Dona Paula, Goa near the state capital Panaji. The construction of existing building started in 16th century which became Governor house in late 19th century.
During the presentation, the officials said that care will be taken to mitigate impact of climate change while constructing new building by taking steps like rainwater harvesting. New building initiative concept is inspired by Rashtrapati Bhawan, other Raj Bhawans and vivid Goan architecture.
Governor P. S. Sreedharan Pillai, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Union Minister of State for Tourism Shripad Naik, Protocol Minister Mr Mauvin Godinho and other leaders were present on this occasion.
The Governor also expressed gratitude to the President for initiative taken by him for the construction of new building. Chief Minister Dr Sawant expressed happiness and gratitude to the President on laying foundation stone of New Raj Bhawan.
