Prime Minister holds pre budget interaction with heads of private sector companies

Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with CEOs of companies from various sectors of industries yesterday. This was the second such interaction of the Prime Minister with industry representatives in the run up to the next Union Budget.

During the interaction, Prime Minister talked about the inherent strength of the country, displayed during the battle against Covid-19 pandemic. Mr Modi thanked the industry leaders for their inputs and suggestions and exhorted them to make full use of policies like Production Linked Incentive scheme.

Prime Minister said, just like the country aspires for a podium finish at the Olympics, India also wants to see our industries among the top five of the world in every sector, and this is something for which all should collectively work. Mr Modi said, the corporate sector should invest more in areas like agriculture, food processing and natural farming.

Prime Minister underlined the policy reforms saying that the government is firmly committed to take initiatives which will give impetus to economic progress of the country.

Mr Modi also spoke about the focus of the government towards reducing compliance burden. Prime Minister sought suggestions from the industry players about the undue compliances need to be removed.

The industry representatives gave their feedback to the Prime Minister. They thanked Mr Modi for putting his faith in the private sector. They said, due to his visionary leadership, the economy of the country is moving ahead on the path of recovery after Covid-19 pandemic.

They expressed commitment towards contributing to the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. They praised several steps taken by the government including PM Gati Shakti. They spoke about steps that can be taken to further boost Ease of Doing Business in the country. They also talked about India’s commitments at COP26.

After the interaction with the Prime Minister, Chairman and Managing Director of Tractors and Farm Equipments Mallika Srinivasan termed it a very wonderful interaction adding that it was about how do we take India forward.

CEO and MD of TCS Rajesh Gopinath said that the Prime Minister has laid out a clear vision statement stressing that Indian companies should aspire to reach top 5 in global rankings.
