In badminton, ace Indian shuttler P. V. Sindhu stormed into the final of the Singapore Open Tournament. She defeated Japanese world No. 38 Saena Kawakami 21-15, 21-7 in the semifinals today. This is the third time this year that Sindhu has moved into the final of a tournament. Sindhu will now face Chinese shuttler Wang Zhi Yi in final tomorrow.
In other semifinal of the Women’s singles Wang Zhi Yi outclassed Japan’s Aya Ohori in two straight games 21-14, 21-14.
After a heartbreaking quarterfinal outing, where Indian shuttlers lost thrilling encounters, it was two-time Olympic medallist P. V. Sindhu who could only prevail as she won a tense match against China’s Han Yue. Saina, Prannoy and duo of Dhruv-Arjun lost tight matches yesterday.
