Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to address valedictory session on Crime and Security of G20 Conference

Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will address the valedictory session of the G20 Conference on Crime and Security in the Age of NFTs, AI, and Metaverse in Gurugram, Haryana today.

On the first day of the conference yesterday, extensive deliberations were held by the participants and delegates from G20 countries and various bodies to effectively deal with cybercrime. They shared valuable insights and strategies to deal with the menace of cybercrime and securing cyberspace during the three technical sessions organized on internet governance, securing DPI, extended reality, Metaverse, and digital ownership. On the second and the last day of the conference today, three technical sessions on challenges of artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency, dark net, and criminal use of ICT will be organized. Participants will discuss responsible development of Artificial Intelligence and cyber security, money laundering on the dark net and cryptocurrency, child exploitation, information sharing, and intelligence cooperation.

In his inaugural address, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah highlighted the grave challenges posed by cyber-attacks and misuse of the dark net, virtual assets, and metaverse. He pointed out that the transformation of security challenges from ‘Dynamite to Metaverse’ and ‘Hawala to Crypto currency’ is a matter of concern. He said terrorists are finding new ways to perpetrate violence, radicalize youth and raise financial resources. He said new methods and emerging technologies are being used by terrorists for financial transactions which are posing great threats for the security apparatus and digital public infrastructure. Terming these activities a matter of concern for national security, Mr. Shah urged all to act together and put in place a robust response mechanism by sharing real-time cyber threat intelligence. He emphasized that there should be greater coordination among cyber agencies of all countries.
